For this Design Challenge, as a group of 7, we wanted to address the question, How might we get distracted students to focus and do their work? We came up with an idea to get students to use technology in a safe and productive way by giving them incentives to focus. Out of this idea came our main idea of Dragon Bucks. Dragons Bucks will be an online “bank account” for students where students earn “money” by turning in assignments on time, ahead of time, being empathetic, and staying off of distracting sites. With this "money" you can earn rewards such as gift-cards, off-campus lunch, and small goodies.

After being approved we wanted to find a platform where this online bank would live. First we wanted to use a google survey teachers would fill out either after every class or at the end of the school day but we quickly realized that was a little too time consuming. After weighing the pros and cons of using an application that is already programmed, the pros outweighed the cons and we decided to use a program called Class Dojo. Class Dojo would have all the students from every grade in one class and from the teachers side you would click on a student and select the goal they completed or the reward they bought and it would take out or add points to your account. Class Dojo also is available for students to look at their account through the student side where they could talk to the teachers and see their overall total of Dragon Bucks. Although I left the challenge after switching over to Class Dojo I'm sure that my group members continued the project beautifully.
